Gold River Facts


As of the census of 2000, there were 8,023 people, 3,180 households, and 2,391 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,011.1 people per square mile (1,164.5/km²). There were 3,275 housing units at an average density of 1,229.1/sq mi (475.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 79.23% White, 1.28% African American, 0.26% Native American, 15.19% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 1.06% from other races, and 2.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.08% of the population.

There were 3,180 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.6% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 32.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $92,028, and the median income for a family was $98,842. Males had a median income of $67,905 versus $48,452 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $42,341. About 0.5% of families and 0.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.8% of those under age 18 and 1.9% of those age 65 or over.

Political Organizations

Gold River is an unincorporated city of Sacramento County. In the state legislature Gold River is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Dave Fox, in the 10th Assembly District represented by Alan Nakanishi, and in California's 3rd congressional district represented by Republican Dan Lungren.
Gold River is run by strict CC&R's and is built upon common interest and uniformity. CC&R's are the covenants, conditions and restrictions that act as governing documents that dictate how the homeowners association operates and what rules the owners -- and their tenants and guests -- must obey. These legal documents might also be called the bylaws, the master deed, the houses rules or another name. These documents and rules are legally enforceable by the homeowners association, unless a specific provision conflicts with federal, state or local laws.Gold River is a wonderful place to live if you would like to be surrounded by a uniformed community, however if you are looking for a place for exterior self-creativity it isn't for you!
Although Gold River has a long list of CC&R's, it is the CC&R's that make the community as great as it is. Upon coming a resident of Gold River, trash and gardening are provided to you through your CC&R fees. You never have to worry about landscaping on your weekend, because both your front and backyard are gardened for you!
Gold River also has a variety of services found throughout the 2.7 mile community. The Gold River Racquet Club is located at the entrance of Gold River, and provides both athletic courts and lessons and wonderful workout facilities. It is truly a place for the ENTIRE community and provides activities and services for both adults and kids. Gold River also has three parks located throughout its body, that are regularly updated and patrolled by Gold River security. They are new, and guarantee a fun filled time for the kids.
The number one reality in Gold River in REMAXX and several different agents hold listings. More times than not, the agents that sell in Gold River are also residents of Gold River.

Award Winning Blue Ribbon Schools




Gold River Discovery Center is a public school that serves grades K-8 in the San Juan Unified School District. It is among the few public schools in California to receive a GreatSchools rating 10 out of 10 and become an award winning Blue Ribbon School!
GRDC average class size is 30 students and as of 2008 its API score was 913!


After students complete eighth grade, Gold River children attend Rio Americano High School. Although Rio Americano is a bit of a drive from Gold River, it is one of the best public school in the greater Sacramento area and busing is provided for the kids for a small fee. Rio American is located in the Arden area of Sacramento and is the feeder school for Arden based middle school and Gold River. Rio is also in the San Juan Unified School district and an award winning Blue Ribbon School. The average class size is 30 students, its API score from 2008 was 795, and its graduation rate is 96%.
